Sites without grid power
Civil works, agriculture, roads and utility work where there is no connection nearby.
Container charging solutions · 36–4,624 kWh
AE Maskiner's high-speed charging solutions in 10- and 20-foot containers fast-charge electric construction machines with up to 480 kW where the work is done – two machines at a time – and also serve as a site power supply. With a 10-year warranty on the battery modules, lack of power is no longer a reason to choose diesel.
The challenge
A standard 63 A site power connection delivers around 40 kW. That is enough for site huts and tools – but an electric 23-tonne excavator such as the SANY SY215E needs 8–10 hours to charge fully that way. With 320 kW DC fast charging it takes around 1.5 hours.
A battery in a container solves the problem: it is charged steadily from the power available – e.g. cheap night-time electricity or solar panels – and then fast-charges the machine during the break.

How it works
Connect the solution to the grid, a charging station, a generator or solar panels.
The battery is built into a 10- or 20-foot container that is placed where the machines are working – even on sites without access to the grid.
Two machines are charged simultaneously via CCS2 with up to 240 kW each – during the lunch break or at shift change.
A 125 A AC outlet supplies tools, lighting and site huts – without a noisy diesel generator.

145 kWhSmall siteFor smaller sites and compact electric machines.
289 kWhMedium siteEquivalent to approx. 6 hours of operation for an electric 23-tonne excavator.

Indicative and before charging losses. Hours of operation are based on SANY Northern Europe's example calculation of approx. 50 kWh per hour for the SY215E; consumption depends on the task. No hourly consumption has been published for the wheel loaders.
Applications
Civil works, agriculture, roads and utility work where there is no connection nearby.
The battery is charged steadily from a small connection and delivers high power when the machine needs fast charging.
Replace the diesel generator in towns, near schools and homes – with no noise or exhaust from the power supply.
When the machines have to be emission-free, the power has to get there too. Read about the 2027 requirements.
Charge the solution with cheap night-time electricity or solar panels, and use the energy when the machines need it.
Electricity is typically much cheaper than diesel. Run the numbers in the calculator.

Connectivity and remote monitoring
The charging solution is connected to the internet via 4G and continuously sends data on operation and condition.
Without mobile coverage, the connection switches to Starlink, so the solution stays online even in areas that are hard to cover with ordinary cell towers.
Many construction projects are far from the nearest cell tower – in the countryside, on the coast, in the mountains and especially in Greenland and the Faroe Islands. That is why the charging solutions have Starlink as a fallback when the 4G network does not reach.
Fire safety
The battery cabinet is equipped with an intelligent, automatic aerosol-based fire suppression system. It consists of smoke and temperature detectors, a fire alarm control unit, extinguishing units and auxiliary actuators, which together provide automatic detection, alarm and extinguishing.
Protection is at pack level: each battery module has its own heat initiators and its own extinguishing unit, so a fire is tackled exactly where it starts – before it can spread.
A hydrogen (H₂) detector also monitors the air in the container. If the concentration of combustible gas exceeds 10 % of the lower explosive limit (LEL), ventilation starts automatically and keeps the level down.
Heat and smoke detectors monitor the cabinet continuously. A single signal triggers the first alarm stage.
If both the heat and smoke detectors report a fire, the system enters the second alarm stage with light and sound signals and a 30-second countdown.
After the countdown, aerosol suppression is released automatically. In case of a false alarm, it can be stopped with the emergency stop.
The fire is extinguished in its initial phase. If needed, emergency water cooling can also be activated.
